The Brussels Enterprise Agency (impulse.brussels) is the economic and innovation agency of Brussels–Capital Region. It supports entrepreneurial innovation in several priority sectors in the Region including healthcare industry (Bio/pharmaceutics, E-Health, Active ageing, Medical devices…). impulse.brussels hosts Horizon 2020 National Contact Points for Brussels and Enterprise Europe Network advisors. It also hosts lifetech.brussels cluster. Brussels is known for the high quality of its fundamental, applied and translational research in medical and healthcare sector, bringing together:

• Three world-renowned Universities (UCL, ULB, VUB) and High-quality infrastructures • A wide network of 27 hospitals and a variety of high-tech innovative SMEs and large companies.

• Major biopharma companies like Pfizer, Solvay or UCB having activities in Brussel

• a dense network of +/- 400 SMEs developing advanced technologies, occupying niche markets (oncology, medical imaging, bioinformatics, …).

• World-class research institutions (such as European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), the Breast International Group (BIG) gathering international breast cancer research teams...)

Brussels-capital Region also developed dense start-up ecosystem with strong innovation potential in E-health and through several flagship initiatives such as Abrumet (Brussels Health Networks) and Brusafe, all linked together through the ehealth.brussels initiative.
